What is Arnica and how does it work?

Arnica Montana, is an herb which has been used for centuries to treat various ailments. The active components in Arnica are sesquiterpene lactones, which are known to decrease pain, reduce inflammation and reduce swelling by as much as 30%. These components easily travel through the skin to stimulate circulation and decrease swelling.
 
When you are injured your body sends white blood cells to the site of the injury to remove damaged cells and replace them with healthy ones. Arnica mimics this response by stimulating the activity of white blood cells to an injured area. This reduces healing time. Not only does Arnica remove and digest damaged cells and congested blood, it’s also known to increase movement of fluid buildup which decreases the degree of swelling.
